All Grown Up!

When did my little bubba grow up? One day he's a sweet little baby, and the next he's down and playing with the big kids!

Our library here in Washington, Illinois has a fun kids room with a train table, castle table, puzzle table and puppet theater. All of my kids love spending time here! It's just sad to not have a baby in my arms while I watch them play...he's all grown up!

Pioneer Day!

Our ward had a Pioneer Day celebration! The kids all decorated their bikes and rode in a parade around the church!! My kiddos loved every minute of it.

The parade was followed by a potluck dinner and bonfire. The best part of the night was that Daddy got off work just in time to meet us there!! It was a great night celebrating with our great ward!

Cole's 6th Birthday!!

My little man is six!! I can't believe it! He is growing up way too fast.
Ben was on call for Cole's birthday, so we celebrated with him the night before.
Cole helped me make an awesome road cake with a semi truck and a motorhome.

Next, Cole opened his plethora of presents. This kid was spoiled!

I couldn't resist snapping a few pics of little buddy getting in on the wrapping paper action :)

The favorites this year were the motorhome, the bow and arrow (like Hawkeye), and of course the Lego truck:

The day of Cole's birthday we played non-stop, trying to forget that Daddy couldn't be with us.
First stop was Fon Du Lac Farm where the kids were able to see real animals and play in a barn with fake ones:

They even learned how to milk a cow :)

Next stop was McDonald's for a Happy Meal and playing in the play place!

Cole got a Build a Bear gift card from Grandma Coombs and couldn't wait another day to go use it, so the next stop was the mall! It was hard deciding what his bear Skittles needed, but he finally decided on a tent and sleeping bag. It was a fun shopping trip!

When I asked Cole what he wanted for his birthday dinner he said he wanted to eat at the hospital with Daddy. Such a sweet kid!! Daddy was able to break away for a short dinner break and met us in the hospital cafeteria. It wasn't the best tasting dinner, but it was the best part of the day because we got to see Daddy, which is a rare thing these days.

Last thing on the birthday list was movie night and a sleepover! It was a great way to end a great day!

I love you my Coleson buddy!! You have grown into a little man. You take good care of me as "the man of the house" while Daddy is gone so much. You are the sweetest boy so full of love, hugs, and kisses! You are so funny and find joy in the simple things. You are also very stubborn and persistent when you want something, but loving and forgiving when we argue about it. You are the best big brother, always playing with Ellie and Dax. You love to take care of us all and play with us all, and we love having you in our family! You bring so much joy to our home and life. I love you to pieces my little man! Always have and always will!! Happy 6th Birthday Coleson!

Take You For a Ride on My Big Green Tractor

Cole found this John Deere tractor bike at a garage sale today and just had to have it! Luckily he had bday money from GG & Grandpa Green. And as an added bonus he discovered that our wagon hooks up to the hitch on the back! It's loads of fun for all the kids!!

And it was totally worth it :)

Happy 4th!

Ben had to work on our first holiday in Illinois. I thought it wouldn't be that bad because I could take the kids to the parade and festivities without him...and then I learned there is no parade or carnival or anything!! Who doesn't have a 4th of July parade?! What else do you do? So, at a loss for what to do we went to a park and then to DQ for a red, white and blue star popsicle :)

When daddy got home we took a picnic dinner to the Peoria River and waited for the fireworks.

The fireworks were pretty fantastic and saved the day for us!! Or maybe everything is just better with daddy :) Either way, we had a great Independence Day!!
