Siblings Day

Cole asked last week when Brother's Day is. He was so excited about Mother's Day and he knows that Father's Day is coming up, so naturally he wondered about Brother's Day. It's only fair I guess. So Ben and I decided that we would have Brother's and Sister's Day or Siblings Day today.

When I told Cole we were going to have Brother's Day he said "Yeah! And you get to bring me breakfast in bed! Ellie, mommy is going to make us cinammon rolls and bring them to us in our beds!" I didn't know what   I was getting myself into :)

I didn't disappoint. The kids got cinammon rolls with their breakfast, and we even brought it to them in bed:

They also got a little present. We got them their own little chairs that they have been begging for:

Cole and Elise were so excited all morning! Even though they get spoiled all the time and the last thing we need is another holiday for them to get spoiled, Ben and I had a fun time making our kids feel special. We are so lucky to have these two little angels in our lives. They bring so much joy into our home and we are so grateful for them!

Kosama Mud Run

Ben ran the Kosama Mud Run today. Ben and the kids donned their sweatbands and we headed off to the crazy 5K at our local "ski hill".

The first half was up and down the big hill, and Ben soon made it to the front of the pack.

The second half was through a muddy obastacle course. We didn't get to see most of it because it was in the woods and the trees hid it all. There were a lot of crazy obstacles: mud pits, a bus to climb over, some tubes to climb through and over to name a few. Ben stayed ahead of most of the people through the obstacle.

We finally caught up with him for the last few obstacles. We saw him run through the river, up a slippery muddy hill, over some huge tires, up a huge mud pile and through the last mud pit:

He was pretty muddy by the end!! Good thing there was a hose to spray off most of the mud :)

I am so proud of Ben. He came in 7th at 36 minutes! I have to admit that I was a bit surprised he did so well because he never has time to exercise, and he never runs. He is just amazing!

Cole pretended he was running the race too. When we could see Ben, Cole would follow close behind. Luckily Ben was ahead of most of the people so Cole wasn't in anyone's way.  Cole crossed the finish line with Ben and was given his warrior feathers like the rest of the runners :)

We had a perfect day at the races!

*I would like to add a disclaimer that I did not dress Cole in that old man tourist shirt...that was all him :)

Bandaids Gone Wrong

I smashed my thumb today and Ellie said "I'll get you a bandaid" and ran away excitedly. I told her I didn't need one because I wasn't bleeding, but I guess she had already gotten one and didn't want it to go to waste...so she put it in the most logical place-her hair! She was pretty proud of herself.

I knew it was going to be painful  to get out and I didn't have the heart to put her through that so I left it in all day. We got a lot of concerned looks and people asking what happened. I'm sure people were wondering what kind of a mother puts a bandaid in her little girls hair.
I finally braved it at bedtime when I put her in the bath and washed her hair. The soap made it a little easier, but she was pretty upset to put it mildly.
Sometimes life's lessons can be pretty rough. I just hope she learned from this one and it doesn't happen in the future!

Preschool Graduation

My baby boy graduated from preschool today!

Cole has loved his two years of preschool. He had amazing teachers, Miss Sara and Miss Stacy. And he had great friends. He will miss his preschool days, but he is so excited for kindergarten!! I can't believe that he is going to start kindergarten in just a  few short months. I'm not ready for him to leave me all day, but he sure is ready for kindergarten.

Way to go my smart little buddy!! We are so proud of you...and Daddy is a little jealous that you graduated before him :) Love you!!

Chocolate Makes It All Better!

The other day Ellie bonked her face and got an owie on her cheek. She was crying about it, and trying to distract her I said "Here El, have an oreo. It will make you feel better." (I know, I am a terrible example and I'm training her to be a fat kid that turns to chocolate to feel better...but it really helps!)
Whimpering, she took the oreo from me and said "O-tay". Then she put the cookie on her owie and said "Like dis?" I was laughing so hard all I could say was "yep".
The chocolate on her owie stopped her crying, so I guess no matter how you use it, chocolate really does make everything all better  :)
